The 2019 Arise Women Conference was not only held amid pomp and circumstance, but it also produced an improvement on the ten previous editions of the once a year conference. The event, packaged by ARISE, a faith-based non-governmental organization, was held on Saturday, 26 October, 2019 at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Conference was held across five different catalogs of venues owned by the church with the main auditorium having over five thousand participants.
The conference has, over a decade, served as a medium for the womenfolk to address issues that concern them and at the same time, encourage them to achieve their God-given potentials. Themed “Bloom”, the conference is a clarion call to all women to step out and be ready to maximize their God-given potential.
The Convener of the event, Dr. Siju Iluyomade, is a lawyer and rights activist with a large heart who gives effortlessly in order to better the lives of women and the girl-child. A blooming agent herself, she took a message of bloom to every woman who deserves to make a difference. Dr Siju has listening ears, and being a mentor to many, has empowered many women in their different fields. Speaking at the event, she admonished women to be self-reliant and economically empowered. She encourage women to put all hands to the pump and be ready to change the narrative of scarcity, pain, poverty. Homelessness in practical ways to help other women and the girl child.
