Travel is a huge part of education. The well-travelled you are the more enlightened you get. Tourism is travel for pleasure or business. A tourist is someone visiting only the most popular places where other tourists will be. By contrast a traveler is someone who is less directed in the way he or she travels.
Tourism may be international or local. International trips usually require entry visas into the country of destination, so the first thing the traveler would be expected to obtain is a valid passport and a visa (if it is required).
